Cap Ferrat on The French Riviera
Not far from Beaulieu sur Mer you will find the exclusive Cap Ferrat. Many famous people inhabit this small forested peninsula but unlike St Tropez it’s still a largely unspoilt area. Charlie Chaplin came to the region each year and the author Somerset Maugham lived and wrote here. King Leopold II retired here as did the film star David Niven and several of the Rothschilds. The Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild is set high up on a hill and overlooks the Cap. You can also view Cap Ferrat in the distance from the hilltop village of Eze.
Almost at the tip of the Cap Ferrat Peninsula is a superb hotel
The coastal path from the port of St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat goes around the southern tip of the Cap and is quite remote, while the paved walk from Beaulieu to St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat is shaded by umbrella pines and takes you past David Niven’s former home.
