French Riviera Weather
The French Riviera has a wonderful Mediterranean climate with mild winters and summers which are hot and dry. It has more than 300 sunny days a year. The French Riviera initially established it’s reputation as an elite winter resort for the British upper classes. Today, it’s still the playground of the rich and famous but it’s also a destination for everyone.
The Mistral is a harsh cold wind which blows down the Rhone valley and has a strong influence on the Mediterranean coastline.
Weather in Nice, France
Like many of the resorts on the French Riviera, Nice benefits from a micro-climate which has contributed to its fame as a world class resort. The town faces the sea and is protected from the wind by the hills, the Esterel mountains to the west and to the north-west by the Mercantour Alps. The climate is mild in winter and you can often lunch outside in the middle of February. In fact, Nice is an ideal destination at any time of the year.
